Advanced Manufacturing
Interns in the Advanced Manufacturing department are wholly responsible for product creation from start to finish. They sit down with clients to assess needs and wants for products, then take that information to create products. Interns are also responsible for keeping in touch with clients to assure that their products meet specifications and tweaking them as necessary. Finally, they are responsible for final and mass production of their products. In this department, each intern acts as a designer, engineer, and machinist, meaning that they will gain valuable skills for every step of the manufacturing process, and valuable communication skills from working with clients. The team mainly works with CorelDraw, which is a vector imagining software that creates files which are used for laser cutting. They also work with computer aided design (CAD) software, such as TinkerCAD and OnShape, in order to make 3D products through use of 3D printers and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines.

I chose to be an intern at PeLabs because I want to gain more working experience, and to improve my ability to work with others in a professional setting, while also gaining technical knowledge.
Avila Thompson
My name is Avila Thompson. I live in Cromwell, CT and I am the valedictorian of Pathways Academy of Technology and Design class of 2021. I chose to be an intern here at PELabs because I saw that it was not just a work experience but a learning experience as well. I am always looking to expand my knowledge in any field, especially engineering. I am part of the Advanced Manufacturing branch and I hope to learn how to use as many of the machines there as possible.

I personally really enjoy making products from scratch, coming up with ideas, looking around for inspiration, and coming to an end result. This is my second year in the Advanced Manufacturing department and I will continue to be until I am not allowed.

I choose to be apart of the internship at PElabs because I wanted to know and learn more about the engineer world. Trevor Priesnitz
My name is Trevor Priesnitz. I live in Vernon, CT and I will be graduating from Pathways Academy of Technology and Design in 2020. I became an intern at PELabs because I want to go for a NAF certification and get more experience in manufacturing. I am a part of Advanced Manufacturing and I am learning how to use some of the new machines, like the Ultimaker 3-D printer, the 3-D scanner, and the laser cutter.
